Just as amazing as the other 16 and i'm literally losing hair here waiting for books 18 and 19. I want to know how it ends so badly but refuse to google it. No. I'll wait. o_o;
Ever walk into a bar, just like in Casablanca. Ingrid Bergman and Bogey, in this case, we have Watanuki and his customers. He never leaves his wish granting shop, yet has to help each and every one. It's bad enough that the customer is always right, but when the customer ate your eye,it becomes difficult. Fans of xxxHolic and the works of CLAMP will enjoy this book that reminds of many of the Sherlock Holmes 'suggested by an incident in' work. Even for a non traditional manga reader, this is very compelling fiction.

This volume of Holic winds back the clock a bit as it presumably concludes an important subplot we had thought put to rest some time ago.

Watanuki has done his peripheral part to help the Tsubasa gang within the confines of his situation as their story closed, and it has ended in a draw with the gang separated but very likely to eventually reunite while Kurogane and Fai are still alive and young enough to enjoy it. For Watanuki, however, his story has just begun - Domeki's slight aging already highlighting the harsh reality that though Watanuki might receive visits from some supernatural friends like the Foxes from time to time, he's going to lose the humans he loves the most - Domeki, Himawari and ultimately even Kohane - to old age long before he's ready considering his new projected lifespan.

At the moment, however, that's put on the backburner as he mulls over his mixed emotions about Domeki's stubborn refusal to leave him - because his next not-so-friendly client is an old enemy who is the last person he ever wanted to see again. It's a visit that would sorely put anyone's capacity for forgiveness to the test...

An interesting tangent giving us a slight respite before the hard issues that the final volumes will inevitably have to address and always lurk beneath the surface.
